ScanRouterV2 Lite Troubleshooting

Most of the problems with ScanRouter result in an error on the machine of "Updating destination list failed" or something similar. This is for one of two reasons- One of the ScanRouter services failed to start, or, a firewall was added on the "server" resulting in a blocked port.

First: Make sure ScanRouter is running!
  • On a workstation that has the ScanRouter Admin utility; open it.
  • It should show a box with one password slot- there should be no password so press ok.
  • If you get a box asking for two passwords on Windows XP or 2000, you most likely installed ScanRouter under a working users name and they have changed their password. Enter the new password twice and restart the machine that has ScanRouter loaded on it.
  • Once the main ScanRouter Admin Utility window is open, look to the window border at the lower left. It should say services in operation. If it says this all of the ScanRouter services are running. Try the SetIO device solution.
    Set IO Device
  • Open ScanRouter as above.
  • At the top left select server.
  • Select set IO Device from the dropdown menu.
  • A new window should appear- Select Add.
  • In the popup box either input the IP Address of the copier or select browse.
  • Sometimes the browse is slow to respond so give it a minute. If it pops up with a result highlight it and select OK.
  • If you get another box asking for a name it means the copier has responded. Input whatever name you would like.
  • Select OK and OK to close the boxes back to the main admin screen.
  • If you are still getting an "Updating destination list failed" message reboot your copier. If you still get it after that and you have Windows XP, 2000 or a third party software firewall you will need to open ports 80, 161, and 3670 on the firewall.

Most of the links below point to documents primarily relating to windows XP, although some of it applies to 2000.
