How To Scan to your Mac
This how-to cover scanning to a Mac from a Savin MFP.
We only cover OS X as previous versions don't support a standard ftp server as far as I know. If they do please email me how and I will correct this. Also, your copier must have the Scanning option and be able to scan to ftp. Call us if you don't know.
You will need to know your copiers ip address
First we set up the Mac
- Open up System Preferences
- In the Services tab check FTP Access
- (if you come from a windows environment that was ridiculously simple- You should have to do more- shouldn't you? :)
- Open up your favorite web browser and input your copiers ip address.
- This should open the copiers web page
- Select administrator mode
- Enter the admin username and password-This varies with model
- Now go to Address Book
- Select Add in the right hand frame
- In the Name box give it a descriptive name
- In the Display box enter a name that will be easy to distinguish at the copier(This is what is displayed in the little box on the copier display)
- Scroll down until you get to the Folder section
- Next to Protocol select FTP
- Set Server Name to the name or ip of the destination Mac
- Set path relative to the root directory that the ftp service is pointing at
- Enter a username of someone who has write access to the directory
- Click password
- Enter that users password twice
- Select OK
Importznt!!
Scroll back to the top and select OK.
